But what if they decide that they need to put a camera, not in the nursery to watch over your parenting skills but in your own bedroom!

This is exactly what happened to a developementally challeged family trying to do what most of us can take for granted at times, take care of our children! they agreed to live in a special home so that they could be monitored on their progress. Something struck even them as odd, for the agency dealing with their case decided that it would be such a great idea to monitor them by camera, which doesn't sound so bad, except that the camera was placed not in the nursery as one would think, but in their private bedroom! How could one possibly watch over a baby if the camera isn't even pointed at least in the general direction of the child!

The couple, along with a concerned neighbour incited the Human Rights Act in order to gain their freedom back. Sadly even today they still have not learned from the past. Many Native children come from large sized families, but oft-times if they are removed from their home they are forced to live with those not of their own culture. Isn't the government supposed to ensure that these children are placed in a culturally appropriate home?

The grandparents of one small girl are trying to get custody but are being blocked from the courts and instead she is being placed with a non Native family.

When are they going to understand that if children cannot be kept with parents then they should be sent to live with extended family?

I had a feeling that "appology" from Harper to the Natives was falsely done, and only to cover their asses. There are plenty of children who after becoming deeply distressed or who have developmental delays do self abuse, but if a child in your care ends up dead there are certainly more questions than answers.

I have heard of no children that have self abused and ended up killing themselves that way, unless it ends up that the child ended up with an infection that got too out of control (very rare occurance by the way since most caregivers would seek medical attention right away)

But how do you explain away when a child dies in your care? One foster mother is placing the blame on the child instead of herself. She did not even mention this self abuse to the social worker, but had mentioned to the school to be wary of the child's supposed sometimes violent behaviours.

On Tuesday, the woman denied accusations she had "battered" the boy in a garage while teaching him a "sick and perverse" lesson relating to his bed-wetting and fabricated her story that the boy had suffered a fatal brain injury when he fell from her arms and hit his head on a toilet.
She also denied ever striking or hitting the boy or putting him in a cold garage overnight in only a pull-up diaper and said she treated him the same as her own children.

What in the heavens could she have been teaching the boy to have been able to fall and his his head off the toilet? if she had been holding him correctly at most a small bump should have been the only injury, but a fatal brain injury? hmm, doesn't sound right to me!

A child maltreatment expert told jurors that "significant" force would be required to cause such a brain injury, such as a high-speed crash or a three-storey fall.

A medical expert for the Crown has testified the child had suffered an "abusive head injury" from "non-accidental force" and told the jury it came from being repeatedly struck or shaken or a combination of the two.

From this one can only assume that something else had to have occurred in the home, and not just because of self abuse done by a child obviously light enough to just pick up.

The accused's former nanny earlier testified the foster mom had left the boy overnight in an unheated garage wearing only a pull-up diaper and said the boy had bruising across his entire forehead when she found him on the cement and dirt floor the morning before he collapsed.

This part is just sickening, why could no one save this poor child?

Just Another Reason For Cancelled Visits

Speaking to a mother recently has got me thinking about parental visits with children in care.

She told me that as she could not handle her young boys aggressive behaviours he was presenting she did what she thought best, put him into care. When a parent has a difficult child often times they are told to put him/her into care so that not only could they get a break from all the stress but also so that their child might be able to get services they may not be able to attain at home. Those sound pretty good to a parent who is handling a bright but stubborn little one, get a break and special services for their needs.

But what if you willingly put your child into care thinking it would help both of you, to one day be told that you are the problem. Not only that your visits become less and less until one day you are told that they will now be supervised only, until near what you feel is the end of your contact with your child since you are now told that visits are not going to happen anymore.

Scary thought for any good parent who only wanted to help. But obviously this parent must have done something in order to lose not only their child but contact with them as well, right?
All too often as I am finding out, that is simply not the case. Take this mother and son for example, the mother has been recently told that her boy has anxiety issues and is therefore the reason why her visits have been cancelled for a while. But if this is one of the few people this child has bonded with and loves dearly, why would it ever be a good reason to remove a loving parent. If the bond between parent and child is severed would one not question that maybe this is the reason why the child has anxiety issues?

This child has known this parent for years, but yet now that he has been diagnosed with anxiety they are putting the full blame on his mother since his highest levels of anxiety are around visit times. Come now, any child will get worried and anxious if they know something important is going to happen, look what happens at Christmas time, when children are reminded to be good so that Santa will bring their hearts desires. Children cannot control their emotions like adults can, psychologically they are "pure and clean" to what goes on around them, they physically show in one way or another what lies beneath their youthful exterior. Their walls are only paper thin.

Ask any young child if they believe if mommy can always tell when they are lying. Mommy's do not have eyes in the back of their heads, they have a sense for when their little one is trying to pull the wool over their eyes so to speak.

If you have what you feel is a silly reason for being cut off from visits with your child, click to see my full profile and find my email address, and let me know!

Death Of Baby P

As this story has been hitting the news more and more, I thought I would add my own opinions on this story as well.

As I continued to read this story I became more sickened by the minute, especially with this

"The toddler, whose name was on the Child Protection Register at Haringey Council in north London, was seen by health and social workers no less than 60 times during his short life -- none of whom picked up on the horrendous level of abuse he was suffering.

And a doctor who examined him 48 hours before his death failed to pick up on the fact that he had a broken back and eight fractured ribs."

Hellooooo, no one noticed this? wtf! No less than 60 times by health and social workers, well I guess with all those other cases they just missed it. hmmm, well if they had better screenings for what was called in they wouldnt have been too busy to notice now would they?

And how the hell does a doctor not notice that the baby had a broken back and eight fractured ribs! Isn't it their job to notice this stuff?

Well, soon we'll all being hearing that either they did not have the resources or that this is an isolated case yet again.

How many cases does it have to be until its not labelled isolated cases, as for not enough resources well I believe you know my answer to that!

What Happens If A School Doesn't Like You

One father recently found out the hard way when it comes to what a school can report as abuse to CAS. His 6 year old son has several problems, ADD, ODD, and is autistic. If this boy doesn't eat right his behaviour can drastically change, especially since he has a hard time controlling his impulses. Now one might agree then that a parent would therefore be adamant that a child like this be made to eat at least the majority of his healthy lunch and snacks (all provided by Dad of course) at school. Not so, apparently. A school in Kingston Ontario decided that this father was abusing his boy by making sure that he eats, and on a few rare occasions has disciplined the child for not eating.

The problem with the accusation is that at the time (the day of the call to CAS) the father had not even disciplined the boy for his lunch, only reminding him that he needs to eat, and also hadn't done such in weeks!

Well, the school decided that any punishment for a child who has not eaten their lunch is abuse, whats ironic in this case is that on the days when this boy doesn't finish his lunch he acts up, becomes either disruptive in class, or becomes non-compliant with his teacher and other school staff. So why then is the school allowing this child to go out for recess long before he finishes his healthy food? They obviously suffer if he doesn't get the full nutritional value from the meal provided from home, wouldn't it then be a good idea for the staff supervising his eating habits to make sure he eats enough?

Now I know your thinking, well the CAS didn't bother with it since the accusation seems at least a bit of a waste (at least since we're paying for them to investigate this odd claim, right?) Nope, they not only called the father but had to visit with him as well.

How many of us remember (probably numerous times) our parents grounding us for not eating our school lunches and wasting such good food! And don't forget all the lectures most of us got from bringing home either a partially or none at all eaten lunch!

What's worse, the principal of the school, after a meeting with staff and the father, boldly told the man that these calls would continue. But I can bet money that not only will the school not get into trouble for making a false accusation, but the intake worker who followed up on this silly call probably won't get into trouble for it either.

I find it unconstitutional when they can make such wild claims but yet when it is proven false they do not even get a hand slap for it. But hey, no worries, it's you (the Canadian taxpayer) who will flip the bill on this, not only to the school for such upstanding work, but also to the CAS worker who just believed that this was a form of abuse!

When has it become a crime to take privileges away from children? Next they'll tell us its illegal to put your child in a time out!

Lets get real here people, our children depend on it!

Court Paperwork

I found this on youtube, and thought it would be an excellent idea if someone could do a canadian version (heck one for every country/state/ province would be even better.

If anyone would like to help, I can edit the video and upload it, all I need is a smart cookie or two that could sit down and go over the actual paperwork, when certain things should be sent in to court, and whatnot (we could even make a series on it if need be)

Also I would love to have people send in some stories of their own or ones they know of to share here. A young boy, taken into care by the CAS in Ontario has not only had to deal with the hardship of being away from his family, but has also had to deal with being tortured in a fosterhome!

Before going into care, he was well taken care of, he was taken simply because his mother pushed away the advances of her CAS worker and her son paid the price. not by her hand, but by a careless and willfully abusive fosterparent!

This little one to this day is still in care, his brother and mother missing him so terribly. How could a parent fullfill the wishes of CAS if her morals and values had to be compromised for it. This worker made passes to her, but as she was a strong and upright mother, standing her moral grounds, she lost one of the most precious things dear to her, her dearly beloved son!

No news reporter wanted to hear this horrific story, nor did the complaints board which is supposedly set up so this could not happen! Turned down so numerously many parents might have given up all hope, but she did not. She is still fighting, still looking for some loophole that may free her young child from this nightmare he now lives in.

There is still worse yet to this story, sadly this poor child isn't even a Canadian citizen, he's American! But yet CAS looks past this tidbit of knowledge, that could mean that they might have to give him up simply because they have no legal rights to him!

The "un"Golden Years

In a time when grandparents should be living free and relaxing on a sandy beach, some are taking on more responsibility. That of taking the utmost care of their grandchildren, many of these children come from parents who could not take care of their children, but instead of letting them disappear into the foster care system the grandparents step up and take care of these children.

Its a beautiful idea, that a child is raised by close family, its even so important that it is a part of the Child and Family Services Act. Keeping children and their families, including extended family is the best solution when a parent cannot take care of their child.

So why am I writing about this, I mean it sounds great, doesn't it? Well what if I told you that the same Government that put into the Act that children should be with family is the same Government denying these grandparents any money in order to pay for the child's needs.

Many children have special needs, but yet these loving grandparents are denied even a basic amount for food, clothing, and therapies the children so badly need. The CAS has told these grandparents that they could offer them help, and what kind of help do you suppose that is going to be? Well, lets see, when a parent asks for help most times they lose their children to foster care. So one may assume then that the same would apply for grandparents.

Whats more stunning is that if a grandparent does actually get money it is typically a lot less then how much a foster parent will get for the same child, more so if the child is special needs.

Instead of doling out money to foster parents why not revert that money to where it truly belongs, to the families who are supporting children. Not as an incentive for extended family to step in but to help those who could use that extra bit of money to take care of their loved ones.

Children, now more than ever, need to be with family. Plain and simple.

Failing Jeffery

Perhaps a very well known Canadian story, The Jeffery Baldwins case is just one of many that shows the lack of accountability and oversight into the Child and family services here in Canada. This case is horrible to say the least, the boy in question was given up since his mother could not take care of him. The problems that arose are troubling. The child, along with other children were given to grandparents where another child almost two dacades earlier had died while in their care, worse yet a child of theirs.

The Catholic CAS had not fully investigated into the background of where poor Jeffery had been placed and terrible consequences followed. Not only were he and his siblings abused but the horrible way in which this was done proved time and again that they should never have had these children.

Once Jeffery and his siblings were in their care CAS pulled back and rarely if ever visited to make sure the children were safe. If they had of visited they would have seen how badly they had been treated, what the childs bedroom had looked and how starved this poor boy had been.

A ghost of his former self, jeffery was so malnurished and abused he scarcely looked like he did before being removed from his parents, he resembled a prisoner at Auschwitz. More sickening was the fact that other children in the home were given better treatment than he and his siblings, a favortism as it were to particular children, they were given the best while he the least.

Now all his parents can do is mourn for the loss, while we fight to learn how to better the system.

There are many stories like this, some even more horrible and gruesome. We need to learn where the problems are in the system and learn ourselves how to correct it, those who work for this system many times don't feel as though there is a problem and problems such as what happened to poor Jeffery are just isolated incidences. So it is left to you, the reader, and I to come up with solutions to help the innocent children not only where we live but globally as well.

No child should ever have to go to bed at night wondering when they will get to eat next, or if they will get a chance to smile tomorrow.

This blog has been put together to share in stories, not only from whats in the news but also by individual families who either need help or who just want to share their story.

If you have a story send it to me and I will post it here, if there is legal ramifications for posting names, I will need to know. If for safety reasons you need names changed please let me know ahead of time!

This blog is going to be for all stories across the world, if you can translate from other languages please let me know as i will need the help.

Whether you have a short or long story I would love to hear from you.

If you would like your story to be shared I will however ask that you have proof to back up your claims. I do not need to have a copy but if you or I need such proof then it should be available so that you or I can access it if need be. I may for a time have to remove a posting but will try to resolve a conflict if the need should arise to be able to post it back up (so if your story disappears you will be contacted ASAP)

I will not post any of your contact information unless you specifically request it be done. If someone asks to help on a case I will let the person who's story is up know and will let them decide whether or not they want whoever comes forward to help or not. So if you want to help, I will need your contact information to forward to whoevers story it is you want to help, then they will decide from there.
